Mathematics is a world waiting to be explored with creativity and imagination. Math imagination day is
all about encouraging the kids to slow down, analyze a problem, and devise a logical solution. Students
of Phase 1 celebrated this very creative and imaginative approach to mathematics through MATHIMAGINATION
on 21st November 2023.The overall objective of Math imagination day is to make math enjoyable, relevant,
and accessible. By incorporating these objectives into math education for kids, Delhi private school
helped students to develop a positive, creative, and imaginative approach to mathematics.
The Math imagination Tower Building activity took place in our PRE-KG classroom, providing an engaging
learning experience for our young learners. Each child had the opportunity to roll the dice, identify
the number, and then locate the corresponding numbered circle on the chart paper. The children then
enthusiastically proceeded to build towers using the designated number of blocks within the identified
circle.
The little mathematicians of KG1 had a fun bump game where players rolled the 2 dice and then added the
numbers. After adding, the player covered the number using one of their counters. If another player has
already covered that number, they have the option to bump off that counter and replace it with their
own. The option to "bump" is only available when there is only one counter on the number. The game
reinforced the concept of addition in a fun way with numbers.
Counting smiles, subtracting worries, and adding loads of fun – that's how we celebrated Math
Imagination Day in KG2. The little learners embarked on an exciting activity using a variety of
manipulatives such as counters, clay balls, or beads to solve math problems. Equipped with a worksheet
featuring two pairs of bonds, the children were presented with a number flashing on the smart screen.
With enthusiasm, they used the manipulatives to figure out which number bond the given number fits into
among the two pairs provided. This engaging activity helped in cultivating a love for learning and
instilling a confidence in approaching mathematical concepts in the future.
Our brilliant brainiacs and enthusiast students of Grade 1, explored concept of “fraction” by folding
the cutout of different shapes to make it halves and fourths. They further explored by drawing lines of
symmetry and recorded their observation in the worksheet. It provides a visual representation of
fractions and helped students to see the relationship between the parts and the whole. Students
thoroughly enjoyed doing this creative hands-on activity, by making the learning experience more
engaging and memorable!
Grade 2 students showcased their math prowess in a zoo themed Math imagination worksheet, mastering
addition, subtraction, money, shapes, symmetry, and matching concepts. Through simulated scenarios like
counting animals and deciding on ticket prices, they applied these skills. Actively participating in
situation-based questions linked to a hypothetical zoo visit on their worksheet, students exhibited a
solid grasp of mathematical concepts in the Math imagination activity.
Overall, encouraging Mathimagination in kids is the fun and effective way to foster a positive attitude
towards mathematics. It helps to unlock the magic within numbers, shapes, and patterns, transforming
math from a daunting challenge into an exciting journey of discovery. So, this Mathimagination adventure
laid the foundation for future mathematicians!
